Start your journey via the Atal Tunnel (or Rohtang Pass, subject to permit). Enter the Lahaul Valley and drive alongside the Bhaga River. Reach the serene riverside village of Jispa. Overnight stay in a hotel or camp in Jispa.
A high-altitude drive today! Cross the mighty Baralacha La (16,040 ft) and witness the Suraj Tal lake. Enter the vast Sarchu plateau, the border between Himachal and Ladakh. Overnight stay in Swiss camps at Sarchu.
Conquer the 21 Gata Loops, Nakee La, and Lachung La. Drive through the stunning Moore Plains and cross Tanglang La (17,480 ft), the second-highest motorable pass. Descend into the Indus Valley and reach Leh by evening. Overnight stay in Leh.
Drive to Nubra Valley via the world-famous Khardung La Pass (17,582 ft). Visit Diskit Monastery and the Hunder Sand Dunes. Enjoy a camel safari on the double-humped Bactrian camels. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
An adventurous drive along the Shyok River to reach the emerald blue Pangong Lake. The lake is 134 km long and shared with China. Witness the changing colors of the water at sunset. Overnight stay in Pangong camps/cottages.
Drive back to Leh via Chang La Pass (17,590 ft). Stop at Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace for a touch of heritage. Spend the evening shopping at the Leh Main Bazaar. Overnight stay in Leh.
Explore Leh's highlights: Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Magnetic Hill, Sangam (Indus-Zanskar confluence), and Hall of Fame. End the day with sunset at Shanti Stupa. Overnight stay in Leh.
